ELLIE'S CORNER OF THE WORLD
ANIMATED IS UNAPPRECIATED
An observation of
mine is that animated films are often underappreciated and underrated. The work
that goes into animated films is enormous.
The film I’m focusing on today is my personal favourite of all time,
Toy Story. The best of all three has to be Toy Story 3, simply because it all
comes together and I’m not afraid to say that I blubbed like a baby at the end
when they all hold hands and accept their inevitable death together, before
THEEE CLAAAAWWW comes to their rescue.
My argument is that animated is unappreciated. It is surely harder to
influence the audience into bonding with an animated character. The fact that I
cried at essentially a group of toys being thrown away seems silly out of
context. However, in the context of that they’re characters with whom I’d
formed relationships and genuinely care about due to growing up alongside them,
it doesn’t seem so abnormal to me.
It seems bizarre that I cried more at a bunch of toys than at
Dumbledore falling to his death or Will Smith giving his literal heart away in
the heart wrenching film ‘7 Pounds’.
My sister dislikes animated films because they often have apparently
childish story lines. However, lots of the time the jokes are actually quite
sophisticated and story lines are easier to appreciate with age. I think
they’re better than real-life films due to the ability to create any story, to
develop unrealistic stories from the imagination and stir emotions within
people unable to achieve through real-life films.
Animated films are genius.
